Wedding Invitations You Make Yourself – The Cheap and Easy Option0

When it comes to your special day, you want everything to be perfect. From the first moment you get engaged to the last guest leaves the wedding reception, special memories are created. However, this special day can cost a lot! If you have a very tight budget for your wedding, there are always some things you can do yourself to “cut corners”. Cheap wedding invitations you make yourself are one way to cut costs.

The easiest way to create wedding invitations is to use special computer programs that have pre-made templates for cards. Many companies create this software and it is simple enough that even the “computer illiterate” can figure it out. Beautiful cards and reply post cards can be designed and printed out for a fraction of the cost of professionally made invitations.

To save on the cost of color ink, one master copy of your invitation can be created and taken to any of the numerous available copy shops. Color copies can be put on a wide variety of paper. With effort and patience, a do-it-yourself wedding invitation can be just as attractive as those professionally done.

When planning to do your invitations yourself, you have to keep timing in mind, though. Do not wait until the last minute to create and send your invitations, as your guests will not have enough time to respond and make plans to attend.

Ways To Make Sending Your Wedding Invitations Less Expensive0

Before you purchase your wedding invitations, there are some things that you should keep in mind if you are trying to keep your costs down. Not only do you have the wedding invitations themselves to think about, but the weight of the invitation, the shape of the envelope, and any inserts in the invitation. These items will determine how much postage you have to use on each invitation, so that they will get to your intended recipients.

Some things to consider:
• The size and shape of the envelope. Many of the unusual shaped envelopes, even if they are square, can cost more at the post office.
• Inserts in the invitation. If you have anything overly heavy, like something wood or metal, that will increase your postage costs.
• Whether the invitation envelope has any kinds of decorations, like bows or ribbon. Decorations on the outside of the envelope can make them more expensive to send.
• Do you need a reception card? If the reception is at the same location as the wedding, simply put “reception to follow” on the actual wedding invitation.
• Create an RSVP postcard. The postage for a postcard is much less expensive than the traditional card and envelope, plus will cost less due to less weight inside the invitation.

If you organize your thoughts and plan ahead of time, your wedding invitations can be a much less expensive endeavor.

Cheap Wedding Invitations Do Not Have To Look That Way0

There are so many cost cutting tips you can follow in order to keep the cost of your wedding down. One of the easiest places you can cut costs is by using cheap wedding invitations. Just because they are cheap, they do not have to look that way, either. Here are some tips to follow so that your wedding invitations will be beautiful, but not cost an arm and a leg.

Make sure you do a lot of research and price comparisons! If you decide you want all the “bells and whistles” when you create your wedding invitations, you can save a lot of money by comparing the prices of many big name printers.

Casual wedding? Use casual wedding invitations! You do not have to have all the engraving, multi-layers of paper and tissue in your wedding invitations. Color printing methods are much less expensive and still create wonderful wedding invitations.

Find the “package deal”! Buying everything needed, like the invitations, response cards, and envelopes separately can really increase your cost. Look for deals on everything all in one price.

When you use these tips, you will still have the “professionally created” wedding invitations, but you will not have the “professional created” prices!

Selecting Your Wedding Invitations0

Invitations are the first thing your guests will see to represent your wedding, and although it’s not an area where you want to spend too much, it is a place to make a statement. Here’s what you need to know about wedding invitations.

The actual invitation should set the tone of your wedding and match the color and theme. Whether it’s an ultra formal affair or a backyard barbecue, your invitation should reflect that. Many couples include monograms or logos that are repeated other places in the wedding and reception as well.

A stationer can print more than just wedding invitations. You can get reply cards, reception cards, thank you cards, wedding programs, menus, and place cards. If you order them all at once, you can not only get a discount, but can make sure they coordinate well together. This takes planning, but is a good way to save time and money.

You should order all of your cards three or four months before the wedding to allow time for corrections if necessary. This also leaves you extra time to address all the invitations. Order extras of everything, especially invitations and envelopes. You’ll need extra for mistakes or last minute guest list additions.

When you get the proof version of your invitation and enclosure cards, read them carefully, and then read it again! Have someone else read it to make sure you aren’t overlooking an error. Check all spelling, dates, times, and locations. Making corrections after invitations have been printed is very costly.

Cheap Wedding Invitations Doesn’t Have To Mean CHEAP!0

It is a known fact that weddings don’t come cheap. Many weddings are now pushing the £17,000 mark! Cheap wedding invitations can easily be made or purchased ready made yet at highly competitive prices. No bride wants her wedding invitations to be of poor quality and guests to remember her wedding as “the one with the cheap wedding invitations” and of course this would not be the case if you purchase good quality materials.

If you want your wedding to be first class in every way, there is no such thing as a cheap wedding invitation. You certainly get what you pay for although it is possible to find inexpensive wedding invites at certain stores such as ours. Quality, elegance and class must all precede cost when you are looking for quality wedding favours to supply to your guests. It is important that if you are making wedding invitation boxes that they are decorated with ribbons and flowers and filled with high quality almonds, candy, dragees or chocolate hearts. Equally, if you are making traditional bomboniere that the nets are secured with pretty ribbons and the edible contents are of high quality in decor and taste.

You may wish to offer your guests inedible wedding invitations such pop-out cards or photographic prints. Again, these can end up looking like cheap wedding invitations if they are not beautifully presented perhaps in a co-ordinating organza bag or a decorated elegant wedding invitation envelope.

Inexpensive wedding invitations can clearly be purchased and produced though quality components need to be used otherwise the outcome will be tacky, cheap looking wedding invitations.

How To Order Wedding Invitations0

How to Order Wedding Invitations

There are so many choices for wedding invitations, but the process will take less time if you know what you want and you remain organized. Take into consideration the formality of the event, the number of guests you will have, your personal taste, whether there is some kind of theme, and if there are special colors that will be incorporated into your wedding day, if you want to use calligraphy for your envelopes, etc. Ecru or cream is the most often used wedding invitation color, but you may want to match your wedding invitation to your dress. If your event color is lavender, you can look for a wedding invitation with lavender accents, or you may use lavender ink and a matching envelope liner to incorporate your wedding day color.
Ordering your Wedding Invitations
Ordering invitations is a process. First, you must gather all of your information, and then you are ready to place your wedding invitation order. Wedding Invitations: Proper Invitation Etiquette0

With all the expenses typically associated with preparing for a wedding, there is the temptation to put less emphasis on certain aspects of the ceremony. Stationary often falls into this category. Invitations, thank you and note cards, and orders of service are examples of stationary that people choose to use for their ceremony. Of these, you don’t want to diminish the quality of wedding invitation that you use. Your wedding invitation is what people see first regarding your wedding. It sets the tone of what your guests can expect when they attend the wedding ceremony. A wedding invitation generally includes key features and there are some considerations to help you with your choice of wedding invitation style. You don’t have to spend a significant amount of money on a particular wedding invitation style, but there are some guidelines you can follow to make them a success.

Word Choice
What you say and how you say it is an important part of a wedding invitation. At the very least you want to include information that will inform you guests of the what, where, why, and when of the ceremony. The obvious information that should be included in a wedding invitation is the names of the bride and groom, as well as the date, time, and venue of the ceremony. The names of the individuals who are hosting the wedding ceremony (paying for it) should appear on the wedding invitation. There really isn’t one standard for how this information should appear on the wedding invitation, so you can use your best judgment or seek advice from a printer.

Getting Down to the Particulars
Numbers are important when preparing a wedding invitation. Knowing how many invitations to mail and when to mail them are important numbers for your wedding invitation. The general guidelines for sending out invitations to your wedding is six weeks to 12 months before the ceremony. If you are inviting guests from out-of-town you should allow an extended amount of time for the individual to receive the wedding invitation and to make arrangements to attend. Unless everyone who receives a wedding invitation will be invited to the reception, it is standard practice to include a separate card announcing the particulars of the reception with the wedding invitation of those you intend to invite to the reception. No matter how you plan, you will always need an extra wedding invitation. As a rule, it is a good idea to order at least 25 extra invitations.

Considering Style
When your guests receive their wedding invitation, they should receive more than a simple card with information on it. Add as much creative flair to your wedding invitation that you possibly can. Ideas for making a wedding invitation unique include adding color, accessories, and aromas. You can experiment with each of these elements when deciding on the style of wedding invitation to use or view samples from a printer, online catalog, or those within a stationary shop.

Save Money on Wedding Invites0

Your wedding invitations convey the style of your wedding to your guests. Many couples spend a great deal of time choosing just the right one. Of course you want invitations that are “you” but you also want to save money on wedding invites, right? There are a few ways to do this.

When you find an invitation you like, shop around. Different companies can offer the same invitation at different prices. If you like a particular printing company but find the invitation you like somewhere else for less money, show the company you like the lower price. They may meet it.

Choose a standard size invitation. Oversized invitations mean oversized postage. The bigger and heavier your invitations are, the more they will cost to send.

Use a return postcard instead of a folded return card in an envelope. Again, you’ll be saving on return postage because a postcard is less expensive to send. Or, go without a return card altogether. It is becoming increasingly acceptable to send an invitation and ask for a reply through an electronic invitation website. This will save you money on the cards themselves and on postage.

If you want elegant, go for simple elegance. A simple white invitation doesn’t have to be engraved – thermography looks just as nice and costs much less.

Remember, most people are going to throw your invitation away after your wedding. Spending more than you have to on them doesn’t make any sense.

Money Saving Ideas for My Wedding0

You’ve found the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, but you don’t want to spend the rest of your life paying for your wedding. You’re asking yourself, “What are some money saving ideas for my wedding?” There are lots of money saving ideas that won’t make it look like you’ve been on a limited budget.

Choose simple, inexpensive invitations. Have you ever looked at someone’s wedding invitation and thought, “Wow, they didn’t spend enough money on these!” Of course not. People aren’t judging your invitation, but they are probably throwing the invitation away once your wedding is over. Don’t spend a lot of money on something so temporary.

October through April are usually the less popular months to hold a wedding. Often wedding venues can be rented for at a discount during those months.

If you have your heart set on a month that isn’t during one of those off months, choose a different day besides Saturday. Friday evening or Sunday afternoon weddings are often less expensive.

Consider hiring a photographer for only a couple of hours instead of for the entire time. If you want professional pictures, the most important ones are of the wedding itself, the bridal party, and the first hour of the reception where the significant dances occur. Ask all your family and friends with digital cameras to take at ton of pictures of all the other happenings at the wedding and e-mail you the images. You’ll get both your professional pictures and amazing candids, but at a fraction of the cost.

Rent a dress. The groom is most likely going to rent a tuxedo, right? What’s wrong with renting a dress, too? Many major cities now offer places to rent designer gowns. You’ll get a beautiful gown without paying full price for it. And you’ll save money after the wedding, too, because instead of paying to have it preserved for a daughter who is not going to want to wear it anyway, you’ll just return it.

Keep your attendants to a minimum. Each attendant you have will cost you money, particularly when it comes time to buy the attendant’s gift. By having only one attendant each, you’ll look like you’re having an elegant wedding. No one will know you’re doing it to save money.

Opt to make a donation to a charity instead of giving out favors to the guests and announce, “In lieu of wedding favors, the bride and groom has made a donation to…” This is becoming increasingly popular, and no one needs to know your donation was only £50, right?

Be yourself. If you, your family, and friends are casual people, do you really want to have such a formal affair? Maybe you and your guests would have a much better time having a backyard BBQ instead of a formal dinner reception after the ceremony. It would cost so much less money and be a reception most people would remember for a long time.
